Your Members Assistance Program, located throughout the Province of Ontario, ensures quality and confidential MAP services for our community members. Certified employee assistance professionals assist employees and their families to deal more effectively with a wide variety of problems, including:

What is MAP?

The UFCW Local 12R24 Members Assistance Program provides Union members and their families with counselling and referral services in a confidential and professional manner.

Counselling services are provided by qualified counsellors located in your region, throughout the Province of Ontario.

Is the service confidential?

MAP is strictly confidential. No information concerning you can be given out to anyone without your written consent. This confidentiality agreement also extends to spouses and dependents over the age of 16. Legally required exceptions to confidentiality include cases of serious threat of bodily injury to the client or others, or cases of suspected child or elder abuse.

What type of counselling services does MAP cover?

 

We offer services to adults, adolescents, and children.

The decision to seek assistance is often difficult. If you are unsure as to whether you require the services of MAP please call and discuss your needs with the MAP director or a MAP Representative at your workplace. Together you can decide if you require an office appointment. All contact with MAP is confidential.

What if there is a robbery?

MAP provides trauma response when a sudden unexpected traumatic event such as a sudden death or armed robbery occurs to you or your family. Counselling is set up for members involved in a traumatic event such as a robbery. MAP also provides counselling for post-traumatic stress disorder.

How does MAP work?

You personally make the decision to access the MAP. Sometimes this kind of decision is made at the suggestion of a family member, a friend, MAP representative or co-worker. MAP also covers eligible family members, such as a spouse/partner or children, who may call to make an appointment themselves.

We offer solution focused counseling and you have sufficient time to address your concerns. If additional services are required from community based resources, we will assist you to connect with the appropriate resources and monitor your situation to ensure your needs are being met.

The services of the MAP network are of no cost to you or your eligible family members and every effort is made to provide you with quality service, therefore improving your quality of life.
